Now that I am sewing a lot more, I am happy to find this lost photo of a “despedida” (going away) gift to a diplomatic couple. It is an American flag and denim, used together with the cathedral window technique on a sewing machine.
If I were to tell my younger self something, it would be to remember to photograph all your sewing work. Not only is it helpful to see how your work has evolved over the years but also fun to remember why you made something. This piece was for a friendship forged as neighbors, fellow board members, Boy Scouts, and so much more.
Happy memories and happy independence day, USA !
