The Ties That Bind Us

The wedding and festivities are now over and the packing to return home begins. First, take a Covid test to enter the country. Second, be sure the country and the airlines both have the negative results. Third, cross your fingers that it all goes according to the timeline. That is, not too many hours, nor too few hours before departure into a foreign destination. And finally, see that mid-April snow and enjoy the dry 34 degrees before the 90s temperatures and humidity hits you.

One wonderful coincidence after the wedding was meeting EllynAynn Geisel. As I waited at the service entrance of the History Colorado Museum with a cart full of post reception flowers, vases, favors, etc., a woman was leaving for lunch wearing a fabulous apron. It took but a moment to realize that she was the person behind the marvelous exhibit “The Apron Chronicles: A Patchwork of American Recollections.”

What a wonderful exhibit!

We were only able to chat for a short time, but it was a treat to meet her and feel her joy for this fabric journey. The museum is the final stop in the Apron Chronicles’ sixteen-year journey. It feels like yet another pandemic message. “…..while the storytellers’ recollections were each prompted by an apron, they’re not about fabric. Sharing a depth of emotion and social complexity both intimately personal and universally relatable, the exhibit reminds us that we’re all in this together.”

I encourage you to read and see images and videos about this. And remember to “Tie One On!”
