It begins…

Musings…. doubt, passion, anxiety, hobby, analysis-paralysis, then action.

I am doing it! I finally have my own blog and am posting for the first time.

Throw away the fear and second-guessing by simply following Nike’s advice: “Just Do It!”  Or so I have been able to convince myself over the last year.  The first step is always the hardest, so the worst is over.

My blog musings will share, inquire, solve, vent, propose and more, on all things about sewing, upcycling, odd observations, daily life and a smorgasbord of other things.  Life threw a curveball at my adopted country of Nicaragua starting in 2018 with socio-political unrest. I lost my wonderful job and then the pandemic hit so life has been in an odd transition since then.

These sour lemons also were able to produce some tasty lemonade as I began to accept this new journey: unexpected free time, returning to hobbies of sewing and embroidery, trying to understand and quietly advocate against fast fashion and its damages (environmental, human rights, climate, economic, social, etc.), the importance and humor of intercultural communication, rediscovering my faith, learning how having less is often having much more,  learning to “embrace” (virtually) family and  true friends, worry less and do more to protect people and their one planet, finding a different type of  happiness and hope,  and so much more

This is truly going to be a WIP (work in process), where I hope to never say TGIF again (Thank God It’s Finished).  The die is cast, so off I go!

If you agree, disagree, doubt or question anything, please write me. Be gentle.  Or if you simply want to comment, I would love to hear from you!

  1. I also use recycled/upcycled denim to bring awareness to the great polluting effects from the making, washing, and disposing of denim, as well as other textiles. My art is mainly wall at from these fabrics and I donate all proceeds to environmental causes, but during the time of Covid-19, they go to nonprofits supporting mind (libraries), body (food pantries) and spirit (arts organizations).
I appreciate and energized by your work. Thank you for sharing.
