Let’s just admit it.
There are some things that older women cannot wear. OK, so they can wear things, but they can also look ridiculous wearing them.
A young friend asked me to make her a denim halter top for her upcoming trip to L.A. I did not ask where she would be wearing it, but I did imagine her roller blading in Venice Beach or dancing in a discotheque.
The result was amazingly cool-looking and unique, as well as easy to make! Afterwards, I decided to make some patterns in different sizes and with 2 versions: one for smaller busted women and one with darts for larger busted women.
Since upcycling preloved denim is my passion, this was a fun way to “make” denim fabric. That is, incorporating scraps from opened jean hems, patchworking pieces together, using jean seams as laces, etc.
This was admittedly, the first time I have ever NOT loved wearing one of my pieces. No, the majority of older women do NOT need to bare their arms nor expose their midriffs.
So, here are some photos with young models, wearing the denim halter top…..
